  1. My favorite Christmas tradition is every Christmas Eve we all pile into the family vehicle (or 2) and go around 3 towns (live in a small Podunk county) and look at all the christmas lights! It’s something we’ve done since I can remember no matter where we’ve moved we’ve always done it! (We’ve only moved twice before coming back home) I am now 23 and its something I look foreward to each year!

    1. I love to look at the lights, too. My kids enjoy rating them, based on their own personal preferences. Thanks for commenting, and merry Christmas!

  2. We always play the dice game for gifts but there is always the gag gift of a porm dvd and lotion so its funny to see who gets it and see if there is any lotion missing or scratches on the DVD. Thanks! Merry Christmas!

  3. Favorite Christmas tradition… our family wakes up and does a nice quiet opening of stocking ‘ s and then we load kids and dogs into the car and head to gramma ‘ s house. We have breakfast and then open gifts. The kids get an hour or so to play with their new things and get dressed. And then the fun really picks up as family starts trickling in. Armed with goodies from candy to hot wings a huge buffet style meal is set up. We break out the whiskey slush and euchre cards, Chevy Chase and A Christmas Story.

We spend the day with family and friends eating, drinking and being very merry! And sometimes it is 3 AM before we get home. But whenever you get a chance to have 40 or 50 guests having a great time then a late night is to be expected. Merry Christmas!

    1. That actually brings tears to my eyes, because that was my Christmas growing up, and until about 8 years ago. Now, with the older generation passing and us living so far away, it’s just our small family, and it sometimes feels like we’re missing something. Treasure each of these holidays. <3

  4. My favorite Christmas tradition is going to Christmas Eve Mass where all the children act out the Gospel with my family. Thanks for the contest and Happy Holidays.

  5. We always have to have the little jelly fruit slice candies for Christmas. My mom always buys them and puts them in our stockings, even though we’re all over 30 LOL. We always joke that it can’t be Christmas without them!

    1. Isn’t it funny that it’s the little things that can make or break the holiday? Thanks for sharing. Now I want fruit jellies! Merry Christmas 🙂

  6. Hi Tawdra! Just hopping by to say thanks for participating in this event and thank you very much for the free book. I love the whole dish idea! That’s awesome!
I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too! <3

  7. My favorite Christmas Tradition is every Christmas my dad makes creamed chipped beef and over medium eggs on toast and we drink mimosas (now that I am over 21 I can join too). We always have to eat breakfast before we can open presents, as a kid I think my parents used to lay awake in bed wondering how long they could prolong our agony. Then they would get up make breakfast and give the all clear. Once we were allowed someone would play “Santa” and deliver presents to everyone one at a time and we all took turns opening them. I think that doing things that way made us appreciate our presents more instead of ripping into everything with lightning speed forgetting about everything but the last present opened. Now I do the same thing with my kids and I love every second of it even if I am super stressed out leading up to the big day.

    1. That morning makes all the craziness worth it, doesn’t it? I love how you were made to suffer through breakfast. . .my kids would die. And they are all pretty old now. . .merry Christmas!

  8. Favorite Christmas Tradition is watching our boys decorate our tree without our help. Where they place the ornaments is where they stay. I like the randomness of placed ornaments rather that the perfect laid out plan. We have ornaments collected over the years that we each place on the tree and a new picture for that year is taken. This has been done since before they were born,

    1. I’m with you, Veronica. My mother-in-law had beautiful, color-coordinated trees, and I loved them, but ours is a living history: each ornament tells a story or reminds us of someone we love. Thanks for sharing, and merry Christmas!

  11. Thanks for the chance! And for the free book! I picked up Best Served Cold just now! 🙂

    Merry Christmas!

  12. We always go to my parents’ house on Christmas Eve and have a small dinner. A few presents are opened and then we go home and the kids get ready for Santa by leaving milk and cookies. They love their grandparents and I love that they get to have them as a big part of their life.

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Treasure that always. . .my kids lost all their grandparents fairly early, and they miss them terribly. We love talking about the memories, though! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  13. Merry Christmas to you and thank you for being a part of the hop! I sat here scrolling through your page, I loved the banter between you and Vincent, and am really excited to see where it leads. During this time, I was silently saying your name in my head, you have a fun name to say. I started saying it in various ways, and my favorite was in the voice of how I imaging Vincent begging to be in a book, “Tawwwdraaa please!”
Sorry the cold medicine must be catching up to me.

    1. Ahaha, Annie! I’m interested to see what develops with Vincent. That boy feels like trouble to me! I’m giggling, picturing you having fun with my name. 😉 Hope you feel better soon and can ditch the cold medicine. Merry Christmas!

  14. Merry Christmas!!
My favorite family Christmas tradition is “Little Christmas” – on the feast of the epiphany (January 6th) my family (mom, Dad, brother, hubby, daughter, and I) all get together for a family dinner and then we exchange small (under $10) gifts.

    1. That’s awesome, Kathy. I love when the old traditions are upheld. . .we observe Epiphany, too, but a little differently. Merry Christmas!

  15. hmmm….with 2 toddlers my hubs and I are working on new traditions…but my favorite tradition would have to be dinner with my mom’s sisters. Get a little wine in them and the fun begins!!
    Thank you!! Enjoy your holidays!!

  16. My Dad and I used to go out into the woods and get our tree. We’ve now switched to artificial, but I always liked going out and finding just the right tree.

    1. We used to love hunting our tree when we lived in NJ. Now that we’re in Florida, the hunt takes place at a corner lot. . .thanks for commenting and merry Christmas!

  17. My favorite memory is when I was still in high school. On Christmas Eve, my parents had little snacks that we would share while watching A Charlie Brown Christmas or White Christmas as a family. Then after the movie was over, I would go over to my great Aunt’s house and would spend the remainder of the evening with my grandmothers, cousins, aunts and uncles. Happy memories, especially of my great grandmother.

Thank you very much and Happy Holidays!

  18. My favorite tradition has always been Christmas Eve. My dad would make his shrimp cocktail and we would have the fireplace going, Christmas tree lights on and the shrimp and other appetizers. The shrimp was the biggie! We would sit in front of the tree and fireplace, have music in the background and eat and laugh. If there happened to be presents from extended family, we would open those, otherwise we would till morning.

  19. It’s not really a full family affair on Christmas eve in our family. Christmas day is the day it all goes down, but on Christmas eve my grams and I will stay up late watching Christmas movies while we finish wrapping presents and cleaning.

  20. Every year, since my boys were infants, we’ve read Twas the Night Before Christmas together…14 years now. Now they argue about which one of them will read it. I love it.

    1. I love this. My kids read A Christmas Carol every year at Christmas. . .it’s cool to have these books that help to shape our holidays. “And to all, a good night!” Merry Christmas, Katie. . .

  21. Our favorite tradition is caroling at the nursing homes with our church choir.

    Merry Christmas!

  22. My mother-in-law made my sons a homemade Advent calendar and everyday in December leading up to Christmas we add one more ornament to the advent calendar tree and make a special wish. Merry Christmas and thank you for the chance. Saraiyaproperties@gmail.com

  23. Among my favorite Christmas traditions are listening to Christmas music and watching all the classic Christmas movies/shows.

  24. I loved staying up all night Christmas Eve with my mother to cook Christmas dinner, then eating early on Christmas.

    1. Wow, that’s culinary dedication! I remember my grandmother telling me she used to put on the turkey when they got home from midnight mass. Very cool. Merry Christmas!

  25. My favorite Cbristmas tradition is a simple one. I Love the Night before Christmas. I remember my Grandfather reading it to us then my Father.even though my kids are older I still have to read it and it makes me smile to think of my grandpa who is de eased now and my father.

  26. My husband started it, every year when we decorate the tree he puts 2 boxes of candy canes on it. Now as a mother I was not so fond of this since the daughter would get one every day, but now watching the nieces and nephews go bananas over them (and then go home and jump on their own couches) I see the wisdom 🙂

    1. Ahahaha, Chris. . .love it. At our house, Santa always put the candy canes on the tree when he came on Christmas. It was part of the magic, discovering them on Christmas morning. . .merry Christmas, my friend!

  27. Out Christmas Holiday starts with Christmas Eve dinner at my Granny’s with all of our family. Then we open our Christmas Eve gift, which is always a new pair of PJ’s for all of us, we make hot chocolate & read, “The Polar Express”with my son, while we enjoy hot chocolate before bed. Christmas morning we have Eggs Portugal at Granny’s & open our gifts & we have done this for my 29 years ????

  28. Hi! Happy holidays! Thank you all for the fun!! Hope you have a blast with your family! My favorite is decorating the tree. We always have so much fun! Theres lots of laughter, stories shared, etc. I love it!
